There is a programme of arts and science events all year round, with a range of festivals in summer including the world-famous Cambridge Folk Festival. Today, Cambridge is at the heart of the high-technology centre “Silicon Fen” with its economic strengths from industries such as software and bioscience, with many start-up companies having been spun out of the university.
